September was tough for Real Madrid, but October will be tougher for the Spanish club. Though fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch their favorite players on the field flaunting the iconic Real Madrid soccer apparel, the team’s campaign is treacherous with matches against Granada CF and Barcelona. When the focus is on the entire Real Madrid squad, fans expect three of the club’s stars to shine this month and help the team to maintain its top spot at La Liga table.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid ended its September season with 15 points in the La Liga table. Right now, the club is at the top of the table. So, it will be safe to call September a productive month for Zinedine Zidane’s men. But, October will come with new challenges for the team and the coach. The first key challenge for Zidane will be proving Eden Hazard’s signing a beneficial deal for the club.
In October, Barcelona and Liga surprise club Granada will be the biggest challenges for Real Madrid. To ensure that the club maintains its top spot in the table, some big names need to step up and take responsibility.
Eden Hazard
Real Madrid may have a decent September season, but the club’s summer signing Eden Hazard will be under tremendous pressure this month to perform. What’s making it difficult for the Real Madrid forward is criticism. But, it happens when a club purchases the best player in his league for a huge amount.
Speaking on criticism, Hazard said that he is not affected by what others said about him, but he admitted that he could do more in Real Madrid soccer jersey. According to the Belgian forward, he understands that people expect more from him, and so does he.
Hazard couldn’t be a part of the team in the first three matches due to his injury. Since his return, Hazard failed to demonstrate the performance that made the club to pay 88.5 million to sign him from Chelsea.
Some fans are impatient with Hazard, while others believe in him and Zidane’s lead. All these things suggest that October will be a huge month for Hazard.
Thibaut Courtois
Another Belgian who will be under immense pressure to shine this month is goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Right now, French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is grabbing more attention than his team fellow goalkeeper, thanks to his one-handed save during debut against Osasuna.
However, Real Madrid and the fans need not to overreact to one moment that belonged to Areola, who didn’t get the chance to face a single shot on target during the match against Osasuna. But, Courtois can also be criticized for not facing a shot on target against other teams.
Courtois is a world-class goalkeeper, but Areola’s one-match performance has put tremendous pressure on him to perform this month and prove why he is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world right now.
Dani Carvajal
The list ends with Dani Carvajal, who is leading the league right now with his three assists. He is the only player with three passes that converted into goals this season. However, the second half of September wasn’t good for him.
When it comes to Carvajal, Real Madrid is finding it difficult to decide on whether the club wants him in the attacking course or the defensive one.
This month, Carvajal will be under pressure to maintain his performance and prove Zidane’s moves beneficial for the team.
